The Hermès Chypre Sandals: My Unexpected Obsession

Let me be honest: I didn’t expect to fall this hard for a pair of velcro sandals. But here we are—two pairs in, and already plotting my next. The Hermès Chypre sandals have officially earned their spot in my rotation. Comfortable? Yes. Chic? Surprisingly, yes. And once you break them in? Game over.

Let’s Talk About My Chypres

So far, I own two pairs. The first one I got was in Beige Esquisse, which I still believe is one of the most versatile neutrals Hermès has ever released. It’s this subtle mix between beige and grey—soft, elegant, and basically a match made in heaven for my entire wardrobe. If I ever had to pick a sandal that goes with everything (and I mean everything), this would be it.

More recently, I added the Blue Turquin to my collection… and wow. This shade is chef’s kiss. In my opinion, it’s the most beautiful blue I’ve ever seen. Cool-toned, understated, but still has that pop. It elevates a simple look without trying too hard—which is kind of the Chypre’s superpower.

Let’s Be Real—Breaking Them In Isn’t Instant

Now let me keep it real with you—my first few days with the Beige Esquisse pair weren’t exactly love at first step. The leather rubbed my toes, and I started thinking… did I make a mistake? But thankfully, I found a quick fix (hello, anti-blister balm and thin toe socks around the house). And once they softened up a bit? Pure comfort. I could walk miles in them now—literally. These babies came with me on long travel days and passed the test with flying colors.

Chunky? Maybe. Chic? Definitely.

I know some people see them as “chunky dad sandals.” And yes, I get that vibe—but to me, they’re chunky in the best way. The kind that gives structure to an outfit. They instantly add that casual-cool, effortless-but-styled look I’m always aiming for. Think: oversized blazer, wide-leg trousers, Chypres. Instant off-duty chic.

They’re sporty but luxe. Relaxed but elevated. Basically, everything I want in a summer shoe.

So Many Colors, So Many Leathers

Another reason why I think people fall in love with the Chypre? The endless options. Seriously—they come in just about every color you can imagine. From timeless neutrals to vibrant seasonal drops. And the materials? You can go classic in Epsom, plush in suede, or full luxury mode with exotics like lizard or crocodile. There’s truly a version for every personality—and every wardrobe.

Comfort Meets Couture

The cushion sole is next-level. Whether you’re power walking through the cobblestone streets of Europe, running errands, or just chasing your iced latte on a Sunday morning, they’ve got your back (and your feet). They’re lightweight but supportive, and the adjustable strap means you’ll always get that snug, just-right fit.

Final Thoughts

If you’re on the fence about the Hermès Chypre—this is your sign. Are they an investment? Yes. But they’re the kind of piece you’ll reach for over and over, especially once you realize how they transform even your most basic outfits into something fashion. I’m already thinking about a third pair (don’t tell my closet).

So… what color would you pick? Are you team neutral, team pop, or maybe even team exotic?

Let me know in the comments—and until then, stay comfy.
